Update on COVID-19 and your pets

March 26, 2020

Wow! What an interesting time right now.

I wanted to let everyone know that the State of Florida, as well as Pinellas County, considers Veterinary Practices to be ESSENTIAL businesses. That means we are OPEN with our regular hours and days of operation. Chantelle, Jamie, Lauren and I are here for you and we are following the CDC recommendations.

Six feet between us

Now to accomplish this we have two options for you.

  1. You may request to stay in your car, and we will come out and get your pet from you. We will then conduct the exam with you on the phone. We can even Face Time if you like. The check out process can be done over the phone as well. We will even return your card cleaned with hospital grade disinfectant. We still take cash too!
  2. You may come in with your pet. We ask that if you see anyone in our waiting room that you call and let us know you are here. We are limiting one family per exam room and waiting room. We will let you know by phone when you may come in.

Disinfecting Surfaces

So, we are a hospital, an ANIMAL hospital, we handle germs all day long every day. We are MASTER virus killers. We are upping our game though. We are using hospital grade disinfectants on all high touch points – doorknobs, counter tops, pens, credit cards – every hour or so.

Washing hands

So, again we are an animal hospital. We are forever washing our hands all day. We will be sure to wash our hands before and after every pet. We encourage you to do the same. We have soap and sinks in our exam rooms so you can do this quite easily.

No face touching

This is the toughest one. I never realized how many times I touch my face. But I am getting better. We will not be touching your face and we encourage you to only touch your face after you washed your hands for 20 seconds.

So, give me a call, 727-317-0099, if your fur babies need anything – we don’t want this people disaster to distract us from the care our babies need. Make sure you handle vaccines, fecal exams for parasites, heartworm test, heartworm preventatives, flea preventatives. Prevention is always better than needing to treat a disease process! And of course, we are here for you and your furry family if they do become ill.

Stay safe, follow the CDC guidelines and call me, I’m here for you and your fur babies.
